A Quiet, Peaceful Place to Relax and Unwind

Looking for a private and peaceful escape in Waihi? Look no further than Union Street Hideaway, where you can enjoy a serene hideaway that's set back from the road, yet only an 800m stroll to the town's main street for shopping and dining.

Our central location makes us the perfect base for exploring both the Coromandel and the Bay of Plenty, and we're just a short drive from the ocean for swimming and fishing. With some of the region's best cycling and walking tracks nearby, we offer 3 e-bikes and 2 mountain bikes for hire on site, complete with helmets and a carry bag.

When you return from your adventures, relax in our hot spa, unwind in the garden, or enjoy your own private outdoor seating area. Our free WiFi and parking make staying with us easy, although please note that there's not enough space for a boat and trailer on site (off-street parking is available). Book your accommodation in Waihi now and experience the peace and tranquillity of Union Street Hideaway.

About Us

Your Hosts: Mark and Jen. We have done a variety of things over the years.

We have 25 years dairy farming experience in the Waikato, followed by hospitality in Coromandel town, charter fishing operator, retail, sales management to building and painting. Currently Jen works as a caregiver, supporting the elderly to continue living in their own home. Mark works from home and takes care of the gardens. We have 2 adult children out there doing their own thing and 2 grandsons. We now have a family of pets which include 1 tortoiseshell, Pixie and 4 pure black cats, Bubba, Gypsy, Dee and Tigger, 4 industrious brown chickens and finally, Chip and Dip, our very friendly pet sheep who love a pat and the odd lemon to munch, they keep the orchard mown. All the pets are very people and children-friendly.

We are both easy-going, fun-loving kiwis, love fishing, motorcycles, travelling and meeting new people.

Jen comes from a Dutch background and speaks Dutch.

Both Mark and Jen are trained first aiders, so in the event of any accident or illness we will be able to help and get any assistance you may require.

We have tried to create a comfortable homely atmosphere for all our guests. We look forward to meeting you and hope you have a safe and enjoyable stay with us and that you enjoy what our hideaway offers. The best thing about being a host is the variety of guests that come to stay and hearing about where they are from and the places they have been.

Strangers are friends we just haven't met yet.
